Speaker Guidelines
Dear speaker at the Major Cities of Europe Annual Conference,
On behalf of the Organizing Committee of Major Cities of Europe, we express our sincere thanks to you for participating as speaker in this year’s annual Conference. We will do our best to make your participation as easy as possible.
The Conference is coming closer. In order to help you preparing your participation and to fine tune the conference sessions, we thank you for taking time to read the following general recommendations and to respect some important deadlines:
-
Duration of your speech:
it will be defined with the Chair of your session. It depends on the number of speakers and the overall duration of the session. Usually it does not exceed 20 minutes. Most sessions will have also time for a round table for all speakers and also other participants.
-
Q&A and round table:
In order to go deeper into a specific issue of your presentation, please arrange with the chair of your session that he/she addresses to you specific questions in this regard after your presentation or during the final round table, if it is foreseen. Leave time for questions from the floor.
-
Presentation slides:
In general we recommend to calculate one slide per one / two minutes for your presentation. If you would like to, you can send us a more extensive and more detailed version of your presentation that we will publish at the conference website.
- Use easy-to-read font sizes -- at least 20 points or larger.
- Use clear visuals whenever possible to explain your points.
- Make bullet points succinct.
- Keep flow charts and diagrams simple and readable.
- If possible avoid screen animation.
- If your presentation requires more than Acrobat PDF or MS PowerPoint
