TRAVEL INFORMATION

Prato is located in central Italy and this location makes it easily accessible by all means of transport.

– By Car
The city is crossed by the main Italian motorways: Milan-Naples Autostrada A1 (known also as Autostrada del Sole, the main artery connecting Italy from the north to the south) and the Florence – Pisa Autostrada A11 (known as “Firenze mare”, it runs east-west in Tuscany and is one of the region’s most important and busy roads).

– By Train
Prato is served by two railway lines, Bologna-Florence and Florence-Lucca, and is therefore well connected with major Italian cities such as Rome, Milan, Florence, Bologna, Venice and Naples.

Both lines pass through the Prato Central station. The Florence-Lucca line (which continues to Viareggio or Pisa) also stops at two other stations: Prato Porta al Serraglio (the closest to the historical centre) and Prato Borgonuovo.

Train routes and timetables are available on the Trenitalia website www.trenitalia.com. Alternative train routes for exploring outside of Tuscany are also available at Italo Treno www.italotreno.it.

– By Bus
The service is managed by Autolinee Toscane company and runs every 15 minutes from 5,45 a.m. to 10,20 p.m. (direction Prato-Florence) and from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. (direction Florence-Prato). https://www.at-bus.it/en/lines-and-timetables
The bus leaves from the centre of Prato, makes many stops, including one near the Centre for Contemporary Art Luigi Pecci and one near the “A.Vespucci” Airport, and continues to the centre of Florence.

The city is also connected to neighbouring municipalities by suburban bus lines.
