GREEN AND BEYONDEnvironmental sustainability is an imperative for 21st-century business – encompassing conservation, pollution prevention and more, but also enabling entirely new value propositions and benefits. Visionaries are seeking ways to lower costs while building more efficient and sustainable operations. They are strengthening their brands and reputations, while meeting government regulations and other compliance standards. But more important, they are creating greener products and services that give rise to new markets – profitably.
Bathwick Group - Drive to green in Oublic SectorDuring the second quarter of 2008, we interviewed 400 respondents from enterprise‐scale companies across seven countries, on a range of issues around Green IT. This paper examines the responses from the 100 public sector respondents. Where appropriate, we have inserted charts to compare public sector results with respondents from the commercial industry sectors covered in the study – energy/utilities, banking, and insurance sectors. For the purposes of regularizing answers and data across all the sectors, we have referred to citizen end‐users of government services as ‘customers’, and to departmental operation as ‘the business’. We have developed a set of six benchmarks that cover all the issues in this paper. You can use the benchmarks to see how your organization stacks up against the respondents in this study.
