Biography

Raffaele Gareri is the Chief Digital Transition Officer at the City of Rome, Italy. Previously he worked for the Province of Brescia where he gained experience on innovation projects for local governments with the aim of supporting social and economic development in local communities.
Some years ago he led the implementation of a public initiative to tackle the digital divide in some rural areas of the province of Brescia providing wireless internet connection in more than 120 small municipalities.
He was involved in the foundation of the eLeader Forum Club with Cisco, Province of Brescia and the Borough of Hillingdon (UK), an international community to share experience and solutions in innovation at local governments.
In March 2018 Raffaele founded, together with other expert colleagues, and was the first President of The Smart City Association Italy, a non-profit organization promoting the sharing of a smart community vision able to be inclusive of all stakeholders, exploit digitalization for individual growth and collective wellbeing, show benefits, opportunities and models of cooperation that can arise from innovation processes.
